NAAPAC Congratulates Michelle Wu for finishing in the top spot in the Boston Mayoral Primary Race. With all the votes accounted for, top two vote-getters Michelle Wu (33%) and Annissa Essaibi George (22%) will face off in the general election to become Boston’s next mayor.
The results are history in the making for Boston, which has elected an unbroken string of white men as mayors in its first 200 years. Michelle has garnered the support of 73 percent of the Asian -American support and is a clear favorite of progressives, young, new, white, and Hispanic voters. She is running on a platform of public housing and climate change.
Michelle is a graduate of the Barrington High School where she was valedictorian and was selected as the U.S. Presidential Scholar from the State of Illinois. She attended Harvard University, where she concentrated on economics and graduated in 2007. Subsequently, she graduated from Harvard Law School in 2012 with her law degree.
Michelle served on the Boston City Council in January 2014, having been first elected in November 2013 and re-elected three times, most recently in November 2019. Wu was the first Asian American woman and only the second Asian American member to serve on the council. She served as president of the council from January 2016 to January 2018 and was its first woman of color president and first Asian American to hold such a position.
Michelle is an up and coming Asian American star and NAAPAC is happy and honored to have supported her. We are expecting great accomplishment from her!
