Bio of Alice Yi – Nominations Committee Chair and Executive Board Member:
Alice (Mingfei) Yi has been mobilizing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in Austin for over 25 years. In 2014, she founded the Austin TX Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (apapa.org) and became APAPA’s Southeastern Regional Chair the following year. She is consultant for the Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote organization (APIAVote.org), to take on the project of Census 2020 and GOTV 2020. Alice currently also serves as the Community Outreach Manager for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce. She was Internship Program Manager for the Vision New America Foundation. Aside from her tireless work in AAPI communities, she trains Volunteer Deputy Registrars for Travis County, and is the Asian American Community Liaison to Congressman Lloyd Doggett. Alice came to the U.S. from China over 38 years ago to study at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. She’s worked for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission and led family businesses in the restaurant and real estate sectors.

Joel Wong moved and Kathleen To seconded to appoint Alice Yi to be the Chair of the Nominations Committee effective immediately.
