Re: The National Asian American Political Action Committee announces its endorsement of Mandela
Barnes for US Senator for the State of Wisconsin.
Mandela Barnes was the first statewide elected official to record and release a PSA denouncing anti-AAPI
hate crimes in 2020 and has consistently been a leading voice opposing discrimination and hate crimes,
particularly against AAPI Americans. During his tenure as Lt. Governor, Mandela Barnes has supported
legislation to aid Wisconsin’s significant Hmong community, including a bill sponsored by Rep.
Francesca Hong, which would help schools better serve Hmong Americans. During his Senate campaign,
Mandela Barnes released a plan to support Wisconsin small businesses, focusing on supporting
AAPI-owned and other minority-owned small businesses. Mandela knows that supporting the AAPI
community must go beyond words, and he has consistently shown up to join AAPI organizations in policy
discussions and moments of celebration. The NAAPAC is proud to announce its endorsement of Mandela
Barnes for US Senator.
NAAPAC is a national, nonpartisan, Political Action Committee dedicated to winning equal opportunity
and justice for all Asian Americans through a SWING bloc vote, ideally directing 80% of our
community’s votes and money to the presidential candidate endorsed by the NAAPAC who better
represents the interests of all APAs. For more information on the NAAPAC, you can visit their website at
